Irina Bokova, born on 12 July 1952 in Sofia (Bulgaria), served two 4-year terms as Director-General of UNESCO (2009-2017), She was the first woman and the first Eastern European to lead the Organization.
She began her career at the UN Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria. Irina Bokova was elected twice as Member of Parliament and she served as the Government's first Secretary of European integration.
Irina Bokova was Minister for Foreign Affairs, as well as Ambassador to France, Monaco and UNESCO and Personal Representative of the President of the Republic of Bulgaria to the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie.
As Director-General of UNESCO, Bokova was actively involved in international efforts to advance quality education for all, the protection of the world’s cultural heritage as a humanitarian imperative and security issue to strengthen the foundations for lasting peace.
She also served as Executive Secretary of the Steering Committee of the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki Moon’s Global Education First Initiative and chaired for two years the UN High Level Committee on Management.
She is on the Forbes List of the world's most influential women for 2016.

Biography
Dr. Marc R. Dusseiller is a transdisciplinary scholar, lecturer for micro- and
nanotechnology, cultural facilitator and artist. He performs DIY (do-it-yourself)
workshops in lo-fi electronics and synths, hardware hacking for citizen science and DIY
microscopy. He was co-organizing Dock18, Room for Mediacultures, diy* festival
(Zürich, Switzerland), KIBLIX 2011 (Maribor, Slovenia), workshops for artists, schools
and children as the former president (2008-12) of the Swiss Mechatronic Art Society,
SGMK . He has worked as guest faculty and mentor at various schools, Srishti Institute
of Art, Design and Technology (IN), UCSB (USA) and in Switzerland, FHNW, ZhdK,
HEAD, HSLU, ETHZ. In collaboration with Kapelica Gallery, he has started the
B ioTehna Lab in Ljubljana (2012 - 2013), an open platform for interdisciplinary and
artistic research on life sciences. Currently, he is developing means to perform bio- and
nanotechnology research and dissemination, Hackteria | Open Source Biological Art ,
in a DIY / DIWO fashion in kitchens, ateliers and in the Majority World. He is part of the
Center for Alternative Coconut Research developing low-cost educational electronic
hardware. He was the co-organizer of the different editions of HackteriaLab 2010 -
2017 Zürich, Romainmotier, Bangalore, Yogyakarta and Klöntal and collaborated on the
organisation of the Gathering for Open Science Hardware, GOSH! 2016 , and the
BioFabbing Convergence , 2017, in Geneva.

Biography
Sung
Hoon Ahn is a Full Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at
Seoul National University (SNU), and is the director of the Innovative Design and Integrated
Manufacturing Lab at the university. He received his undergraduate degree in Aerospace Engineering
at the University of Mic higan (1992) and his Masters' degree (1994) and PhD in Aeronautics and
Astronautics from Stanford University (1997). Since then, he has held professional and visiting
positions at Stanford University, University of California at Berkeley, Gyeongsang Nation al University
and University of Washington. He joined Seoul National University in 2003 and has served SNU
Institute of Global Social Responsibility as a Director (2016 2017), University Industry Technology
Force (UNITEF), Korea as the President (2016 2017 ), SNU Graduate School of Engineering Practice
as the Associate Dean (2017 2018), and Tanzania Korea Innovative Technology Energy Center (ITEC)
as the Pro gram Director (2017 present).
Dr. Ahn's research interests include soft robotics, smart/composite
materials, micro/nano fabrications,
3D/4D printing, smart factory, green manufacturing, renewable energy, smart grid, and appropriate
technology. He has published over 3 1 0 peer reviewed journal articles at Nature Materials, Advanced
Materials, Advanced Fun ctional Materials, Materials Horizons, Soft Robotics, Scientific Reports, CIRP
Annals etc. as well as over 700 conference talks and 150 invited presentations. Since 2011 his team
as the Global Solar Volunteer Corps has constructed several off grid solar/sm all hydro/wind power
plants in Nepal and Tanzania which Provide electr icity and LED light for over 3,5 00 people in remote
villages. For his research accomplishments, he has been honored with Highly Commended Award
from Literati Club, UK (2003), Sinyang Eng ineering Award (2010), Gaheon Award (2011), Seoul
National University Education Award (2012), LG Yonam International Visiting Fellowship (2012), and
Certificate of Commendation from Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning of Korean
government (2015).
Since 2013, as the editor
in chief, he has founded and managed the International Journal of
Precision Engineering and Manufacturing Green Technology (IJPEM GT, 2018 impact factor 4 560 ).
He has served as an editorial member of Rapid Prototyping Journal (RPJ), International Journal of

Biography
SSpecialized in ICT4D (Information & Communication Technologies for Development) with 9 years work experience that includes 5 years in the ICT/Telecommunications private sector and 4 years in the public sector (ICT4D). I am a telecommunications engineer (Electronic Engineer specialized in communications) with a Master of Science in Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and MPA (Master in Public Administration) in Development Practice from Columbia University. Currently, I am Program Manager at Engineering for Change, a non profit based in New York City. I speak five languages; Spanish, English, Swedish, French and Italian.
Recently, I had the honor to be a panelist in Digital Technologies and Development Conference @Columbia University in New York City, panelist @CIMA/NED event in Washington DC (Can digital media break though in Cuba?, presenter at an ICT4D 101 workshop for Engineers without borders New York charper (EWB-NY) and appeared on CNN en Español twice to talk about Engineering for Change and Technology for Development projects in Latin America.
